This vegan sesame chick recipe offers a healthy twist on the classic stir fry, featuring crispy tofu tossed in a flavorful sesame sauce. It's a satisfying and nutritious meal that's easy to prepare and bursting with delicious flavors.
Ingredients:
- 1 block extra firm tofu, drained and cubed
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
- Green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish
- Cooked brown rice, for serving
Instructions:
Mix the tofu cubes with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch until they are covered
Set a big pan on medium-high heat and add the sesame oil
It will take about 5 to 7 minutes of cooking after adding the tofu cubes until they are golden brown and crispy
Mix soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and the cornstarch-water mix in a small bowl with a whisk
Mix the tofu with the sauce for about one to two minutes, or until it gets thicker
Take it off the heat and add golden sesame seeds on top
Put it on top of cooked brown rice and top with sliced green onions
